Q: What is the best place you have ever visited?

A: The Napali Coast of Kauai, Hawaii. It is nature at its best. You must see at least once in your life.

Q: What's your favorite restaurant and why?

A: Because of my love for cooking, it has to be Charlie Trotter’s in Chicago. My wife and I were asked to join our friends at the restaurants ‘Kitchen Table’. Our meal was served to us at a table located within the working Kitchen, and I was able to walk around and engage each chef as he/she worked throughout the sitting.

Q: What movies have you seen in the past month?

A:

  • Once – Contemporary musical set in Dublin, Ireland. Winner of the 2008 Academy Award for Best Original Song.

  • Atonement – Adaptation of an Ian McEwan novel dealing with how a young girl’s lie forever changes the lives of those around her.

  • The Lives of Others – A view of life in 1980’s East Berlin as seen through the eyes of a member of the government’s secret police.

  • The Mist – One of the first short stories I ever read by Stephen King. A deadly mist takes over a small northeastern town.

  • Street Fight – For anybody passionate about politics, this is a must see. It is a documentary following the 2002 battle for the Newark, New Jersey office of Mayor.

  • No Country For Old Men – The Cohen Brother’s latest masterpiece and winner of the 2008 Academy Award for Best Picture.

  • Dan In Real Life – I love everything the Steve Carell does. This was no exception.

  • Into The Wild – I first read this book back when I was just getting out of college. I am sometimes envious of Chris McCandless’s ability to grasp the beauty of this world.

  • Michael Clayton – Tense legal thriller. Proof that tight dialogue does make for a gripping movie.
Q: Do you play a sport?

A: Whenever and wherever possible, Golf.

Q: Do you have an interesting hobby?

A: I love to cook. I love to read. And I love to try to decipher what will happen next in politics.

Q: What was the last concert you went to?

A: Bruce Springsteen.

Q: Where would you go and what would you do on your "dream" vacation?

A: A month long around the world golf trip that played at least one round on each continent. I guess Antarctica might be difficult, so maybe there I would just hit some balls off the ice.

Q: What books are on your nightstand right now?

A:

  • The Professor and the Madman: Murder, Insanity, and the Making of the Oxford English Dictionary.

  • A Crack in the Edge of the World: America and the Great California Earthquake of 1906.

  • BIAS: A CBS Insider Exposes How the Media Distorts The News.

  • Armed Madhouse: A Look at the Mistakes and Shortcomings of the Bush Presidency.

  • In Defense of Food: Eat Food, Not Too Much, Mostly Plants!

  • The Road: A Father and Son Struggle to Survive in a Lost World.

Q: What is your favorite sports team?

A: The Colorado Buffaloes.
