Telluride, Colorado

Designed primarily as a gathering place for relaxation, this Telluride, Colorado home combines contemporary design with clean lines and bright spaces while integrating the mountain home style. Huge windows highlight the best part of the property - its mountainous surroundings. This is what we designed our lighting around, ensuring that the architecture is highlighted without fixtures intruding on the contemporary design, right down to avoiding placing visible fixtures in the ceilings to let the wooden beams become the focal points on the clean white ceilings.

Working closely with the owner and architect, we tackled the unique constraints of a mountain home, making sure everything was in compliance with the Telluride dark-sky ordinance and tapping into our resources to source fixtures available in such a remote town, without breaking the budget.

The house is fully customized for its occupants. By using layers of indirect light with some accent lighting, visitors can go from reading a book in the sleeping bunk, to cooking dinner for guests, to enjoying the sunset with lighting to match each mood at a moment’s notice.
