PAID SUMMER INTERNSHIP AVAILABLE FOR AUDIO/VIDEO SYSTEMS DESIGN ENGINEER
AE Design is seeking driven summer interns with our growing A/V team, focused on designing building technology systems.
This is an opportunity to learn about building technology systems in projects as diverse as recreation centers, charter and public schools, high-end offices, and unique clients such as the Denver Zoo. You’ll learn about the design process from start to finish, and how to coordinate with other team members – many sitting right next to you. Our A/V projects often overlap with lighting design, electrical engineering, commissioning, programming, and you’ll get a chance to be an integral part of the team from day one. Successful Candidates Will Have...
Enrollment in an academic degree program in one of the following majors: Sound Design, Sound Technology, Information Systems, Information Technology, or other degrees with applicable experience and coursework.
Exposure to 3D modeling software and computer aided drafting software, such as the Autodesk suite or similar
Completed coursework in sound and/or video system design, digital signal processing (DSP) and control automation.
Completed coursework in data networking technology, data network infrastructure, and data network architecture.
Some knowledge of Safety and Security Systems design such as CCTV / video surveillance, access control, intrusion alarm, and fire alarm.
Interest in applying skills in sound and video system design to paging/ intercom/mass notification systems, CATV distribution, and digital signage.
Interest in data network design, including structured cabling, wireless networking, and IP protocols.
Interest in learning how to take building AV design from start to finish, including initial scoping/discovery with Owner/end-users,
narrative of work descriptions, drawings (plans, diagrams, details), AV specific calculations (sight line studies, loudspeaker coverage, etc.), performing site observations and basic testing and commissioning.
Bonus: Some knowledge or interest in acoustics, theatrical stage lighting, rigging and drapery systems.
Bonus: Some knowledge or interest in electrical engineering and/or computer/electronics engineering.
Bonus: Previous experience using FileMaker Pro and/or AFMG Ease

Our location allows us to walk to many of our meetings and be accessible to our clients, as well as utilize public transportation via the light rail or bus systems.
