WHERE DID YOU GROW UP?
I grew up in York, Pennsylvania, which is about 30 minutes from the Mason-Dixon Line. I graduated from Central York high School and continued my education at The Pennsylvania State University to pursue a Bachelor’s of Science in Architectural Engineering. I have been playing ice hockey since the age of 2 and wouldn’t change it for the world.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MOVIE AND WHY?
Miracle, because it’s based on the greatest sports story ever told. It makes sense that I choose a hockey movie since I’ve played my whole life.
WHAT’S SOMETHING PEOPLE WOULDN’T GUESS ABOUT YOU?
I was born with curved pinky fingers. Ask me to see them sometime.
I’ve played the guitar for half my life so far.
I’m a certified USA Hockey official. It’s a great side income and keeps me on the ice frequently. My dream job would be to officiate a game in the NHL.
WHAT’S THE BEST PLACE YOU HAVE EVER VISITED?
Cancun, Mexico for Spring Break 2013. This had to be one of the greatest experiences of my life. The weather there was beautiful all week, the sand was perfect, the water was clear blue and truly surreal to stand in. Nightlife downtown Cancun during spring break can get pretty wild. Our last night there we visited what many people told us was largest dance-club/bar in South America, and after being inside the building, I believe them. The place was unbelievably huge.
WHO IS THE BEST BAND AND TO SEE LIVE?
August Burns Red. They grew up about 45 minutes down the street from me and now they’re a famous metal band, touring the world, inspiring many with their music. I have seen them live four times and each show continually gets better. I know metal is not a musical style many are fond of, but the sheer talent on their instruments and inspiring song writing abilities from the vocalist makes them one of the best in a world full of wannabes.
IF YOU HAD TO WATCH ONE SPORT FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD IT BE AND WHY?
Ice hockey, because it’s the one thing my life has evolved around no matter where I am. I am a fan of the Washington Capitals and Calgary Flames.
WHERE IS YOUR FAVORITE PLACE TO EAT?
Tough decision, but Texas Roadhouse is always a solid choice. Hard to go wrong with some steak covered in sautéed mushrooms. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it…
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE OUTDOOR ACTIVITY?
Attending sprint car races during the summer. It’s an awesome sport and way better than NASCAR. I also like taking my German Shepherd, coincidentally named ‘Sheppy,’ for walks in the woods. He loves catching and killing groundhogs for some reason and brings them back to show us what he accomplished! He’s the best.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO IN YOUR SPARE TIME?
Watch hockey, play hockey, play guitar, watch movies, go for walks around town, workout, watch sprint car racing, hang with friends and family, tailgating Penn State football games during the fall.
