Energy Star is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy with the goal of helping builders and consumers save money and protect the environment through energy efficient products and practices. The results are already proving the effectiveness of the program. In just 2005 alone, Americans saved $12 million on their utility bills and avoided gas emissions equivalent to those from 23 million cars.
