It hardly seems possible that it was over three months ago that the AEDG team landed on Las Vegas for Lightfair 2008. But as the summer comes to a close, we thought this was a good time to look back at the lessons we learned and share them with you.
During our time in Vegas we attended over 25 seminars – gathering new ideas for design and getting up to date on all kinds of new technology.
Here is a quick summary of some of the best seminars we attended during the event. For detailed notes from the class, simply click on the title of the seminar.
Daylight as an Art Form
This was a great class on how to take a paradigm that we know to be good for the environment and turn it into something beautiful to look at. There are also many ideas on how to modify sunlight into new shapes and forms.
Evidence-based Healthcare Lighting Design
Lighting in hospitals not only affects the patients – doctors and nurses perform better in well lit places too. Here are some interesting statistics to keep in mind as hospital design becomes more residential in nature.
Focusing LIGHT on SLEEP
The New Frontier in Human Health, Performance, Learning & Productivity:
We all know how important sleep is…especially those of us who aren’t getting enough of it! Learn more about how lighting design can impact the sleeping habits of our clients.
Visual Value of Light
Explaining the Financial Value of Great Lighting Design to Your Projects:
In a time when everyone is working to get projects done within their budgets, it’s increasingly important to have a lighting designer on board early in the project. The impact of light on designed areas is greater than the finishes, and often costs less.
