WHY WE SERVE

At AE Design, we believe we can make an impact on society beyond our commitment to our client partners, stakeholders, and end-users.

As an organization, a team and individually, we operate in an ethical and sustainable way within the engineering and design community to ensure we make a positive impact on the environments and economies that surround us. Through design, mentoring, volunteering and fundraising, we are always seeking new ways to make a difference.

HOW WE SERVE

AE Design dedicates nine hours of community engagement opportunities to each employee annually, totaling more than 400 hours of volunteerism, fundraising, and mentorship activities across the organization.

Our team members are empowered to utilize these hours in the community however best fits their passions and personal interests.

WHERE WE SERVE

Our organization and individual team members contribute to the following organizations, non-profits, and charities:

Firm-wide, we believe involvement should be focused on four pillars that align with our values: PEOPLE, the ENVIRONMENT, EDUCATION, and ANIMAL CARE.

People aligns with our belief to put people first, human-centered design, equity, resources, and more.

The Environment aligns with our work on National, State, and Municipal Parks, with efforts to sustain the use of our outdoor public spaces.

Education aligns with our belief of continued education and expertise, and staying on the vanguard of design and technology.

Animal Care aligns with our love for pets, appreciation for shelters, and our extensive work on animal care projects, something we believe makes us unique.

ANDI WALTER
LIGHTING DESIGNER

Andi’s Passion

Andi actively supports the National Resource Defense Council (NRDC) through donations. Andi holds a special place in her heart for the NRDC because its goal is to ‘safeguard the Earth, its people, its plants and animals, and the natural systems on which all life depends.’ Andi believes that clean air and water should be a human right, and it is vital to the health of underserved communities. The NRDC has built an impressive bench of scientists, lawyers and advocates, and she believes if more people were aware of these issues surrounding environmental equity, there would be so many more activists fighting for it!

“AE Design empowers its employees to give back, and internally, I feel that the employees here feel a responsibility towards our communities - whether that be through volunteering to serve the community or through our conscious and thoughtful design of future buildings in the community”

RECENT EFFORTS

October 2022

AE Design participated alongside firms in the AEC and commercial design industry in the 2022 “Warm a Heart”, an event benefiting Denver Health’s Newborns in Need hosted at Officescapes.

Over 200 Denver Health babies and their families were gifted a beautifully decorated bag filled with the most needed newborn items.

August 2022

A group of 6 from AE Design and Barker Rinker Seacat (BRS) provided dinner for The Delores Project.

The Delores Project provides safe, comfortable shelter and personalized services for unaccompanied women and transgender individuals experiencing homelessness. They also work to end homelessness by advocating for housing solutions.

May 2022

As two of our teams participated in the Colfax Marathon Relay, we identified the opportunity to partner the race event with a fundraiser. AE Design raised more than $1,000 for a local nonprofit organization, the Denver Dumb Friends League (DDFL).

DDFL provides life-changing services for homeless pets and horses that come to their shelters every day – animals who arrive in need of medical treatment, behavior training, foster care, and the opportunity to find loving homes.

March 2022

A group of 15 team members planted trees at Sloan’s Lake in Denver, CO with Denver Parks and Recreation.

The Denver Parks and Recreation system includes 30 recreation centers and nearly 20,000 acres of urban and mountain parkland including off-street trails, parkways, and natural areas.

December 2021

We partnered with Ohlson Lavoie Corporation (OLC) to sponsor gifts for children and their families from Sun Valley Youth Center. Employees from both organizations purchased gifts from children’s wish lists, wrapped them, and delivered them to the Youth Center for the Holidays.

The Sun Valley Youth Center is a non-profit after school and summer program for kids ages five to sixteen in Denver’s Sun Valley neighborhood. The Sun Valley neighborhood has been through a lot of change with the demolition of the projects by the Broncos Stadium and new development of affordable housing by the Denver Housing Authority (DHA).
